Westin Boston Waterfront Hotel Provides Guests with Airline Flight Information To Speed Their Travels

Chicago, IL (PRWEB) October 2, 2007 - With its sparkling new facilities, skyline views, waterfront locale and direct access to the recently opened Boston Convention & Exhibition Center, it is no wonder The Westin Boston Waterfront bills itself as being at the center of this booming, New England business city. But it takes more than "location, location, location" to reap the lion's share of Boston's 12 million annual visitors, especially in a market blanketed by more than 15,000 rooms.

For hotels in Boston, the weather at Logan International and other airports nationwide often plays a role in guest travel plans. General Manager David Connor was seeking travel-related technology innovations that would help his guests be better informed so they could plan their airport departure arrangements with greater confidence. The threat of severe winter weather, he says, spurred his search for a property-based airline information service. "It's very important in winter to know what's going on outside," said Connor. "Our business is mostly convention and business people who are locked up inside all day and when they get out of their meetings to head to the airport, the last thing they need is to waste precious time sitting in a crowded terminal waiting for a flight that is weather delayed." That is why Connor chose to install the FlyteBoard airline information display (http://flytesystems.com/FlyteBoard.html?campaign=PRWebWestinBostonOct22007) system in the lobby of The Westin Boston Waterfront.

Providing Vital, Real-Time Flight Information

FlyteBoard, developed by Chicago-based Flyte Systems (http://www.flytesystems.com/?campaign=PRWebWestinBostonOct22007), is a wall-mounted high-definition, flat panel screen designed for use in hotel lobbies, conference centers, restaurants, bars and other public areas, that displays airline flight information (http://flytesystems.com/FlyteTouch.html?campaign=PRWebWestinBostonOct22007) for one, or more, airports. What sets it apart from other PC-based systems is its ability to post accurate real-time airline flight arrival and departure information, not FAA-regulated scheduled departure times that do not list delays caused by:

?    Air Traffic Control

?    Aircraft maintenance

?    Crew availability

?    Weather

According to Connor, the property's FlyteBoard panel is fully integrated with real-time information from Logan International Airport and all flight times are updated minute by minute via high-speed Internet connection. The Westin Boston Waterfront decided to show only departure times so it was able to use larger font sizes for easier, faster viewing - a convenience valued by clock-watching travelers. "Pages renew automatically as airline departure times change," Connor noted. "Our bell staff tells us that many guests look at the Board and thank them for offering a great service. It is a real convenience for our guests and sets our hotel apart." The FlyteBoard display lists flights with airline logos just like the screens at the terminals, and Flyte Systems also provides boarding pass printing and other capabilities.

Large Digital Displays Installed Quickly

According to Connor, FlyteBoard's "glance-and-go" viewing, with revolving displays is equivalent to ten airport TV monitors. Best of all, he says, the installation was extremely easy, pairing a hotel electrician with the Flyte Systems team. "It took less than two weeks to implement the system after we decided on the size of flat panel equipment we wanted to use. The real benefit to our guests is that do not have to needlessly run to the airport; they can choose to stay at the property if they see their flight is delayed."

Hello From Sicily ? Goodbye Vulcano, Dolphins, Tunas, And Hello Milazzo
The days on this sailing trip are so compressed and amazingly full of diverse experiences: waking yesterday in beautiful Lipari, followed by a driving tour of this, the largest Eolian island. Then our journey continued to Vulcano, where we had an intense Italian lesson, followed by a nourishing on-board dinner and candlelit evening of soulful music, provided by two of our shipmates. There are hardly words to describe the intense sensations that one experiences on a trip so outside of the norm.

Thank You's For Everything
In life, there are many reasons we look to say thank you to those around us. Family members, friends, colleagues, loved one, and even strangers often do things that we deeply appreciate. In some cases, we simply feel that the words "thank you" is simply not enough to do justice for how appreciative you are feeling towards a specific person. Many times we are looking for a gift that will display those feeling for us, which is where a thank you gift basket comes in.

As so many times before, I used my Airmiles to book our flights to Calgary (with the Westjet Airmiles Mastercard you get to fly out west for only 1600 Airmiles instead of having to use 3000 Airmiles in high season with other airlines). As an astute traveller you have to look at every option of cutting your travel costs and Airmiles is one of my favourite tools. A direct flight took us from Toronto to Calgary in about three and a half hours.

After WLS: Goodbye Self-Loathing! Hello Self-Loving!
You won't believe what happened to me today!I was getting ready for work and saw myself naked in the full-length mirror and I didn't hate what I saw! I actually gave myself an unrehearsed slightly passive self-compliment "You don't look bad today."The reason this is monumental is because most of the time when I look in the mirror I do not like what I see and I give myself harsh criticism.

Can Manners Affect Your Beauty?
Have you ever encountered people who do no mind their manners? In a department store, when a woman starts screaming at the top of her lungs cursing a sales clerk because she did not get the size or color of an item she requested, other people will not be concerned about her appearance ? just her manners. Those present will start ignoring her. This is a perfect example of a situation where manners override physical appearance.

Hello from Sicily Eolian Islands Here We Come!
Following my last day in Taormina and my arrival last night in Milazzo I caught a good rest to get up early today to repack my suitcase and remove a number of items that I was not going to need on my sailing trip through the Eolian Islands. This will be my first sailing trip ever, and it will be combined with Italian language studies, offered by a Milazzo-based language school called Laboratorio Linguistico. A very unique concept, although now I was a little nervous, wondering I would get seasick, or whether I was going to have decent ship mates. Various thoughts of uncertainty were swirling through my head.
